French Flair Collection Released and New Boutique is Born!

I'm finally able to share my brand new collection with you! While it's not yet found in any online stores, I'm proud to share that it will be sold in my own, Jack and Jill Boutique first! I've opened up Jack and Jill Boutique to better serve my design clients and new customers as well. I can't begin to tell you how often people call me to ask about products they see in the rooms I design. This will allow me to send them directly to the products on my own site. I consider the boutique to be a new extension of my Jack and Jill Interiors nursery design services.
I'm still loading the many great designer recommended, tried and true products, so be sure to visit often to see the new offerings. We have hundreds of great products from dozens of the most distinguished children's furnishings designers in the world. If I wouldn't use it in my clients' homes or my own home- you won't find it in my store!
So please browse my new baby and kids' boutique and take a moment to view my new collection below. Contact the studio for purchasing information!

Sherri Blum Designs Give-away!

Whew! We are back from a crazy week in Disney. All six of us had a great time and made it through with no crisis of any sort! I'm exhausted but thrilled that we had this wonderful week together!
I promise that there will be more posts on decorating very soon, as well as those photos of the wedding that I promised to share back in October! (Thanks to Pamela for mentioning the wedding...I had forgotten that I had promised to post photos!)
But for now, I'm going to host a giveaway. I've got plenty of items here in stock and so I'm going to offer the winner of this contest, a choice. Don't worry...if you have your eye on a particular Sherri Blum Designs product, it is very likely that it will be listed in a future giveaway. And don't be shy...feel free to tell me your favorite design and I'll be sure to offer it in the next couple of months. It is my goal to host a giveaway each month, so be sure to check back!
OK...here is how it goes...
If you post a comment, you receive ONE chance-
Become a "follower" and receive TWO chances-
Put my "blog button" on your own blog, or mention the contest along with a link, and receive THREE more chances! (Be sure to send me a quick comment or email telling me that the button or link is posted.)
Yes, you can feasibly receive SIX chances to win in this contest by doing all three!
Here are the three products from which the winner can choose...each one will be personalized with your choice of one initial as seen in the images. These gallery wrapped giclee canvases retailed for $100 and $140. The black canvas measures 16"x20" and will feature a black hand-painted initial, the pink and blue versions measure 18"x24" and will feature a brown hand-painted initial. There is no need for framing, as the museum quality canvas design wraps around the edges of the canvas. The staples are even neatly hidden, providing a top-quality canvas reproduction.  A sawtooth hanger is installed for easy hanging. These royal canvases look great in children's rooms and grown-ups alike. Who doesn't love a royal crest with the family monogram, hung proudly for all to see?!

Entry deadline is February 26. Good luck...and thanks for stopping by!

Eco-Friendly Nursery Wall Art and Kids Decor

While we're on the subject of eco-friendly nursery design, I wanted to share with you what we are doing personally to make our nursery wall hangings and kids decor more environmentally friendly.
Prior to signing on with my licensing partner, my kids' decor and nursery wall art was printed overseas and I finished them here with hand painted personalization. I worked only with a fair trade factory and we performed regular, unannounced inspections (at my expense) to ensure such. We paid higher prices for these goods, but we wanted to ensure we were not encouraging unethical practices. I used the least amount of packaging I could in shipping, while still ensuring the artwork arrived safely to my customers. We used boxes and fill paper made of recycled paper.  We recycled anything and everything in our office. I was taking baby steps, but with the goal of consistent improvement. Let's be realistic, it simply doesn't happen overnight that businesses become fully environmentally friendly!

However, now that I have signed on with Oopsy Daisy Art, we're taking things several steps further than I had even hoped to do within a year.

Now, all of our products are proudly made in the USA. Each delightfully detailed painting is an original design, reproduced onto museum-archival-quality canvas using the giclée method of fine art printing. This environmentally friendly process utilizes water-based, non-toxic organic inks to recreate original renderings with amazing clarity, tonality, and color fidelity.

Like I said in my recent post, I believe that it's important for each of us to evaluate our impact on Mother Earth and to do what we can now, and to continue to  improve with ongoing efforts to lessen our impact on the earth. I am happy to say that I've continued to be conscientious and am thrilled to be working with Oopsy Daisy. They are manufacturing my artwork in a way that I can be proud of and that my customers can feel comfortable with placing in their baby nursery or kids room.

How are you doing your part to lessen your footprint on our environment? Please share!

New Home, New Studio!

Yep! I'm getting a brand-spankin' new studio! I've just hired a builder and will be building it from scratch. I'm so excited! The building will look similar to the photo seen here and will be placed right next to the beautiful log home my fiance built himself. Yes...that's right...I'm engaged folks! I know, I know...I've kept you somewhat in the dark and am jumping around a bit here, so as difficult as it may be, try to follow me...
I met a wonderful, extremely handsome, intelligent...(he has his MBA from George Washington University), witty, strong...(well, you get the idea) man named Eric - back in October while going through my divorce. Now, I certainly didn't plan on rushing off and marrying the first nice guy I met after divorcing a husband of 18 years, but Eric has turned out to be the love of my life so I'm jumping back on the horse much sooner than I ever intended or expected! I was perfectly prepared to date many jerks before meeting "Mr. Wonderful", but was fortunately spared those experiences.
Eric began building a log home on a beautiful 3 acre parcel in rural Pennsylvania about 2 years ago. He's done everything himself (with the help of his father) while working a full-time job. He is now working on the finishing touches including kitchen cabinets made completely from scratch. He's amazed me with his artistry and talent. I'll include some interior photos soon, but have included an exterior photo here for you to see the house in progress. (Eric would want you to know that the foundation will be covered in stone and that much landscaping is in the plans, too!)

Between the two of us, we have four children...my two boys and his two girls. That's right...we're a modern day "Brady Bunch"! So, needless to say, we have limited space for my studio in the home...which brings us to the need for a separate studio on the property.

So I think I've brought you full circle. If not, I'll add a few footnotes in the morning when I'm a bit more bright-eyed (and the glass of wine I'm currently drinking has worn off!) and can properly proof-read my ramblings.

In a nutshell...life is good and we're plugging along here at Sherri Blum Designs. The boys and I will be moving to our permanent home in Gardners, PA with Eric and the girls in early to mid June. The studio construction is slated to begin in early July and I promise I'll keep you posted on the progress and will include lots of pics! I'll end with stating that I truly believe in divine intervention and that God himself sent Eric to me when I needed him most. I'm happy...our four children get along beautifully and are happy as well. Life is good, folks and good things really do come to good people!

Instant Murals Licenses Sherri Blum Designs!

We have some exciting news to share with you...Instant Murals has licensed several designs from Sherri Blum Designs to create vibrant and beautifully detailed "peel and stick" artwork for children's rooms!
At the 2007 ABC Kids Expo, I was approached by Jeff and Kirsten Dalton, owners of Instant Murals Designs. They enthusiastically explained their great products to me which included "rub-on" and "peel and stick" artwork and told me that they wanted me to design some products specifically for them. Since they live only about 1 hour from my home, we were able to meet in person a few times throughout the course of the past year and plan the first of our product designs. They were completed just in time to be introduced at the 2008 ABC Kids Expo!
These products are repositionable vinyl and can be used on their own as wall art, arranged as a border, used to decorate lampshades, headboards, mirrors...you name it! These would also make great accessory packs to coordinate with my collection of artwork, clocks and rugs.

You can see our current line of products by visiting: Sherri Blum Instant Murals.
We'll be continuing to grow this collection with some exciting new products and themes over the course of the next few months. I'm very excited about this new venture and can't wait to share the next series of designs with you!
