During our outing, we began noticing quite a theme...feathers were everywhere! Peacock feathers, pheasant feathers...you name it- it was sticking out of the plants, floral arrangements, topiaries and just about anything and everything they could stick them into! We spotted some really cool round place mats made of pheasant feathers. It really became the joke of the day for us and by the end of the trip, we had racked up quite a few feather sightings!
Most of the arrangements were tastefully done, but a few were just plain tacky. I will admit though, by the end of the day, I ended up purchasing a feathered item myself...a cute little ball covered in feathers that looks perfect on one of the the mantles of my new log home. I figured that if I couldn't beat them, I might as well join them! While this outing was mostly to assist Christa in accessorizing her home, at one point I spotted a super cute veggie bin for my kitchen and started rummaging through my over-sized purse for my tape measure. Much to my delight, as I glance up, I see my new mom and sister had just each whipped out their own tape measures from their purses...one prettier than the next! Now, I already knew that these were classy ladies, but seeing them standing their with their pretty floral tape measures in hand, I knew that we were always meant to be my family! We were three "birds of a feather", for sure!

How funny, Sherri! Yes, the feathers seem to be everywhere! I keep a small tape measure in my pocketbook ~ one of those that is a keychain, too. Just big enough for me to take measurements in a store without taking up lots of room in my purse.
What a sweet post Sherri! I just loved hearing you refer to you MIL and SIL as your mother and sister. I feel the same way about my husband's family. We are blessed aren't we? I so appreciated your visit today, and very glad to be following your wonderful blog! Have a great day!

p.s. I LOVE pheasant feathers! My husband is a hunter, he said he'd be on the lookout for me - Ha! Hey, they are very expensive!
Thank you for stopping by Kathy, and Kim! It's funny timing on your comment, Kim...I just got home from Michael's craft store. I went in to get supplies for a project my son is working on, and came home with PHEASANT FEATHERS! I have an arrangement that sits under my hubby's big nine point buck mount, that was just crying out for some feathers! I wasn't willing to wait until my big hunter-man brought me home some real ones...I had to get the fake ones to hold me over!
Oh...by the way, last year I actually saw the most BEAUTIFUL cock pheasant in the ditch at the end of MY driveway! His color was breathtaking. Too bad it wasn't hunting season or I might have brought home my own pheasant feathers that day! ;)
